A New Generation of Shared Service Centers

Shared service centers (SSCs) have been a feature of many large, multinational companies for a number of years, initially amongst US companies centralizing their European operations and latterly more widely. The structure, purpose and opportunities for companies centralizing their financial processing continues to evolve however, and the term ‘shared service centre’ can now be applied to a wide range of business organizations. In this article, we look at some of the evolving trends in the establishment of SSCs and how companies are harnessing technology and business process innovation.
