Gasoductos de Chihuahua Selects SunGard to Support its Natural Gas Transportation across the Mexican Los Ramones Pipeline

Published: December 03, 2014

In July 2013, Gasoductos de Chihuahua, a Mexican joint venture between Pemex Gas y Petroquímica Básica and Sempra Gasoductos Holdings, signed a contract to provide natural gas transportation services over the next 25 years for the “Los Ramones” pipeline. The pipeline will be interconnected at the U.S. Texas border with the "Agua Dulce-Frontera" pipeline.

To support this project, Gasoductos has chosen SunGard to help manage its pipeline operations.

“Aligne will allow us to automate and streamline our business processes both internally and for our shippers on the pipeline,” said Mauricio Abogado, Commercial Director of Gasoductos. “SunGard fully understood our business requirements. We feel confident that their capabilities and local experience will help us achieve our goals.”

Gasoductos will be the owner and operator of the first stage of the Ramones Natural Gas Pipeline Project that will become the core of the Mexico’s natural gas transportation system. Since this is the biggest and most complex pipeline operated by Gasoductos, the company needed a technology-enabled pipeline system.

SunGard was selected because of its ability to satisfy the Gasoductos requirements of an end-to-end pipeline system that supported Spanish language in a hosted secure environment.  Additionally, SunGard’s local presence in Mexico City and its current relationships with existing key players in the region were important to Gasoductos.

“In a region where there are few pipelines to transport natural gas, a reliable, efficient infrastructure was important to the local economy, especially as the energy reform in Mexico continues to develop.  SunGard’s Aligne will help enable Gasoductos to fulfill this need, while also helping them to enhance operational efficiency and improve profitability.” – Andrew Bateman, president of SunGard’s energy and commodities business.

SunGard’s Aligne is a multi-commodity solution suite which integrates trading, risk management, scheduling and operations, regulatory compliance, settlement, accounting, and management information on to a single platform.
