Guillermo De La Fuente, Senior Treasury and Risk Manager, SITA, and EACT Representative for the Swiss Treasury Association, ACTSR
Guillermo De La Fuente is a Senior Treasury and Risk Manager at SITA, the leading multinational information technology company providing IT and telecommunication services to the air transport industry. Before joining SITA he was the Treasurer at Raizen, the commodity trading arm of Shell for both sugar and ethanol, and then Treasurer at J. P. Morgan in Geneva. In 1999 Guillermo joined CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, as Head of Treasury and Payments. He has also worked in Spain for large US multinationals including GE, Fluor Corporation and DuPont.
Guillermo has an MBA from the University of Houston and a Masters in Finance & Economics from Oviedo University in Spain, where he specialised with honours in Taxation. He is a board member of EACT, IGTA and the ACTSR, the Swiss Treasury Association, as well as being an active member of his local Council in Geneva, and in his spare time he loves skiing in the Alps with his family.
The ACTSR began life in 1981 as the Corporate Forex Club, whose original members were active in the foreign exchange markets, in contact with bank traders and economists on behalf of their corporate employers. The Club members then decided to create their own forum where they could share their views at a monthly meeting followed by lunch, without the presence of bank representatives or consultants. Most of the original founders continued to be active members, but many had been promoted to Treasurer or Finance Director positions, and the group’s name was first changed to the Corporate Treasurers Club and subsequently to the Association of Corporate Treasurers in Swiss Romande, or ACTSR as it is known today.
The ACTSR offers a platform to corporate treasurers and other professionals who are concerned with cash and risk management, corporate finance and other treasury-related issues. There are currently 125 members who meet regularly for short presentations and discussion of developments in their profession, and an annual conference is held in Geneva. It is a non-profit organisation with a defined corporate governance structure and actively encourages the exchange of information with other Associations of Corporate Treasurers.
