Celebrating the Unsung Heroes of Treasury Innovation

The image of treasury as a back-office function has never been more outdated. Today’s teams sit at the centre of funding, risk and operational resilience – yet much of their most important work is designed not to be seen. When treasury is doing its job properly, things simply work – liquidity is where it should be and risk is contained before it becomes an existential issue. But much of this hard graft goes unnoticed.

Which is precisely why these awards matter – as recognition for work that is often invisible by necessity. This year’s winners are those who focused on making treasury function properly – day after day, under pressure, and at scale. They have built foundations that allow the business to move faster without losing control, and to take risk deliberately rather than accidentally.

What links the stories in this year’s awards is a clear shift in mindset. Treasury progress now looks like fewer workarounds, less reliance on individual heroics, and far more predictability. That also means implementing operating models that hold up when volumes rise, markets move or assumptions break. This is the profession moving forwards through intent rather than innovation for its own sake.

We also know how hard that work is to articulate. Often, the real effort sits in the detail – in governance choices, system architecture, sequencing, controls, and the judgment calls that never make it into a slide deck. Much of it is commercially sensitive. Some of it simply cannot be shared publicly. That reality also shapes how these awards are judged.

Behind every category is a rigorous process. Our judges read deeply and question the substance over the style. We also look for evidence of durability, not just momentum. We weigh outcomes alongside execution, and ambition alongside restraint.

Above all, these awards are about recognition and respect – for the teams who have rebuilt legacy structures without breaking the business. Who have stabilised risk while markets shifted beneath them. And who have modernised treasury without losing sight of control, accuracy, trust, business impact – and the people who put in all the hard work behind the scenes.

Congratulations to all this year’s winners!
