Citi Appoints New TTS Sub-Saharan Africa Head

Published: April 01, 2020

Citi is pleased to announce the appointment of Esther Chibesa as TTS Head Sub-Saharan Africa effective immediately.

Citi has a solid track record of innovation and offers uniquely customized solutions to support their clients across the diverse set of markets on the African continent. The banks' TTS Platform will continue to offer growth opportunities for the Citi franchise in collaboration with the rest of its ICG businesses. Citi are excited with Esther’s appointment to lead the charge during this next phase of growth in SSA.

Esther has been the TTS Head East Africa since 2015 and SSA Payments & Receivables Head since late 2016, and most recently took up the role of interim TTS Sub-Saharan Africa Head. The confirmation of her appointment to this role sees her succeed Peter Crawley who moved into a new leadership role within TTS EMEA. Esther will communicate plans for succession in her previous roles and will proceed with the job postings shortly.

Esther joined Citi in 2000 as a Management Associate in Citibank Kenya and grew in various capacities within Operations, Banking, Risk, and Product Management. During her time, she has worked in Kenya, Uganda Tanzania and Zambia, catalyzing teams in developing various innovative solutions for our clients. She is an alum of University of Botswana (First Class Honors), and holds an MBA from Heriot Watt Business School, Edinburgh University.

Esther will report to Ebru Pakcan, TTS Head EMEA, and Akin Dawodu, Cluster Head for Sub-Saharan Africa. She will become a member of the TTS EMEA Executive Committee as well as the Sub-Saharan Africa Operating Committee
