HSBC appoints new Head of Commercial Banking in Singapore

HSBC today announced the appointment of Steven Cranwell as Head of Commercial Banking, Singapore.

In this role, Mr Cranwell will have responsibility for HSBC’s Large Corporates, Middle Market (MME) and Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) banking segments, as well as leading the Global Trade and Receivables Finance, and Payments and Cash Management businesses in Singapore.

With more than 25 years’ experience including 16 years in Asia, Mr Cranwell brings strong regional and sector expertise from a variety of senior executive roles in the areas of client relationship, product and risk management.

Prior to this appointment, Mr Cranwell was Head of Large Corporates for HSBC in Singapore, where he was responsible for the bank’s large corporate clients. He also has a rich background across institutional banking, project and asset finance, trade finance and advisory during his time with a major Australian bank.

“Steven’s strong sector and regional expertise will greatly support HSBC in Singapore to capture market opportunities and provide Singapore corporates with a critical edge as they roll out their regional and international expansion plans.”

Mr Cranwell will jointly report to Guy Harvey-Samuel, Chief Executive Officer for HSBC in Singapore and Noel Quinn, Head of Commercial Banking for Asia Pacific.

He succeeds the role from Kelvin Tan, who has been appointed Chief Executive Officer for HSBC in Thailand.
