José-Carlos is Vice President of the Asociación Española de Financieros y Tesoreros de Empresa (ASSET) and Member of the Board of the European Association of Corporate Treasurers (EACT) and of IGTA, the International Group of Treasury Associations. Together these financial associations share good practices and represent corporates’ interests with regulators in Spain and Brussels.
ASSET has over 600 members – CFOs, treasurers and finance professionals from both corporates and public institutions. It holds workshops and seminars throughout Spain, and runs an Inquiry Service which is a valuable forum for queries and answers between members. ASSET’s technical commissions cover retail payments, management control, fraud, business ethics and international tax. Publications include a news magazine issued every four months, and the ASSET Treasury and Finance Conference is held annually in Madrid.
José- Carlos has 25 years’ experience of restructuring, finance, HR and IT in several large multinational corporations including GE, ALSTOM and PSA Peugeot Citroën. He is an active member of the European Money Markets Institute (EMMI) and a member of its Steering Committee. He started his professional career in 1993 as an auditor with Coopers & Lybrand, later joining the accounting department of PSA Group, where he had financial responsibility for all the Group’s industrial, financial and commercial companies. In 1996 he became Head of Accounting for Banque PSA Finance in charge of SAP implementation for PSA Spain, and in July 2001 joined the Treasury Service, heading this function for all Spanish PSA companies.
In September 2008 José-Carlos joined ALSTOM as Country Treasury and Funding Director for Spain & Portugal, and in January 2011 he was appointed Regional Treasurer Europe, reporting to ALSTOM Holdings VP of Treasury & Funding. He was a Member of the Board at ALSTOM Transporte from 2012 to 2015 and ALSTOM Power from 2013 to 2016. He was also ALSTOM’s Ethic & Compliance Ambassador from 2010 and a founding member of the Spanish Observatory of Ethics in Business which was established in 2014.
José-Carlos joined GE in November 2015 after supervising the integration of ALSTOM Energy’s Treasury with GE during the previous year, as part of the GE Capital team which organised GE’s industrial European treasury. In November 2016 he joined Duro Felguera, a €1bn Spanish multinational listed company, as SVP of Corporate Affairs, CFO and CRO, leading the restructuring process and capital increase which took place in July 2018, working together with banks, investors and advisors. He is currently CFO and General Manager of Corporate Resources at Mnemo, a cybersecurity company based in Spain, Mexico and Colombia, responsible for the Group’s organic and inorganic growth.
