Deutsche Bank today announced the appointment of industry veteran Frank Fang as Head of Corporate Banking Coverage for China.

Mr. Fang will lead the onshore and offshore China corporate banking coverage team, and will drive a client-centric coverage model across the bank’s LLC and MNC client base. He will also have oversight of all onshore branches in China, and his responsibilities will include leading strategy and providing direction with respect to client coverage, as well as overseeing branch requirements.

Mr. Fang will report regionally to Oliver Brinkmann, Head of Corporate Finance North Asia, and Sanjiv Vohra, Head of Asia Pacific Corporate Banking Coverage. In China, he will report to Feng Gao, Chief Country Officer of Deutsche Bank China.

Prior to joining Deutsche Bank, Mr. Fang spent 25 years in a variety of product and client coverage roles at HSBC, most recently serving as Head of Corporate Banking, China. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing HSBC’s Commercial Banking business across large and middle market corporates as well as MNC’s.

“We are very excited to welcome Frank to Deutsche Bank, and have no doubt that his unparalleled experience combined with our best in class coverage and product platforms will position us exceptionally well to further grow our China business,” commented Oliver Brinkmann. “Frank’s unique and multi-faceted insights into the corporate universe in China will significantly strengthen our coverage capabilities across the full suite of our corporate finance practice.”

Sanjiv Vohra added, “China remains a critical component of Deutsche Bank’s global corporate banking coverage network, and an increasingly significant driver of our regional and global business. We are eager to draw from Frank’s many years of experience in this space and are confident that under his leadership our corporate banking business will grow not only in China, but also with our Chinese corporate clients overseas.”

Mr. Fang will be based in Shanghai, and will join the bank in late June.
