Mark Evans appointed Managing Director Transaction Banking at ANZ

ANZ today announced the appointment of Mark Evans as Managing Director Transaction Banking with Carole Berndt leaving ANZ to pursue outside business interests.

Mr Evans is currently Chief Compliance Officer at ANZ having joined ANZ in 2009 as Global Head of Trade and Supply Chain. Previously he was with HSBC where he was responsible for the Trade and Supply Chain business across the Pacific.

ANZ Group Executive Institutional Mark Whelan said: “Mark is an experienced banker having held senior roles across relationship, product and operations. I’m very pleased to have him step into this role.

Commenting on Ms Berndt, Mr Whelan said: “Carole has made an important contribution at ANZ in a short space of time, reshaping the Transaction Banking business to improve returns. She has completed the build out of a competitive cash management proposition while maintaining our market-leading position in trade products.

“I want to thank Carole for her contribution and I wish her all the very best for the future,” Mr Whelan said.

Mr Evans commences in his new role on 20 June and will be based in Sydney.
