Misys FusionInvest wins “Best OMS provider” in the MENA Fund Manager Services Awards 2015

Misys recognised as the leading Order Management System provider for its unique ability to manage fixed income, derivatives and equity products in a single platform

DUBAI – Misys, the global application software and services company is pleased to announce it has won the award for “Best OMS provider” for its FusionInvest solution at the MENA Fund Manager Services Awards that took place at the Ritz-Carlton, Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) on 27 January 2015.

Misys FusionInvest was recognised for its unique order management capabilities when trading fixed income, from the simplest securities to more complex strategies and derivatives products. The platform provides portfolio managers with the ability to turn investment ideas into orders using a consistent analytics, compliance and risk framework. These capabilities are especially relevant for the Middle East and North Africa where a lot of Sovereign Wealth Funds and asset managers operate with highly sophisticated portfolios containing a wide range of asset classes, which can often be complex to manage.

In addition, many investment firms operating in the region trade Islamic products that are aligned with the principles of Sharia law. FusionInvest has been fully adapted to price and manages and trades a wide range of global fixed income and OTC derivative products. This allows buy-side firms that are active in MENA, APAC and Latin America to leverage an off-the-shelf platform suited to their needs. The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) is a FusionInvest customer that has already benefitted from the implementation of the Misys solution.

“The investments we offer are Islamic banking products”, states Azeem Butt, Project Manager at IDB. “Being able to customise FusionInvest to meet the specific needs of these products is a great advantage. FusionInvest gives us the insight and agility we need to ensure that our investment strategy is executed to its maximum potential.”

The MENA Fund Manager awards are designed to identify the region’s top performers from the investment management industry, as well as the service providers who have led the way in terms of innovation, service to clients and overall expertise in their field. One of the main reasons for Misys FusionInvest’s industry recognition this year is the addition of Fixed Income OMS capabilities to the existing OTC derivatives and equities OMS functionality, which makes it an unrivalled offering to buy-side institutions.

Misys announced the release of the latest version of the award-winning software, FusionInvest v7.1.3 last year, which delivered the best-of-breed fixed income capabilities and also included an integrated derivatives overlay. The new Fixed Income OMS capabilities enable investment managers to measure portfolio risk, leverage real-time analytics such as key-rate durations, as well as simulate and generate orders across a wide range of fixed income instruments, including emerging market, corporate and convertible bonds. By combining order raising, portfolio management, analytics and pre-trade compliance in a single view, investment firms can attain a competitive advantage over their peers by making smarter and faster trading decisions.

Sebastien Roussotte, General Manager for the Investment Management Division at Misys comments, “We are delighted that FusionInvest has been recognised by MENA Fund Manager as a leading OMS solution for the investment management industry. Our product strategy is closely aligned with the needs of our customers and we are very proud that the new Fixed Income OMS capability that we have developed in conjunction with our clients has been identified by an industry-leading publication as the number one system available in the market.”
