Making MMF Investment Even More Intelligent
In a world where volatility has become the norm and visibility is still patchy, many corporate treasurers are rethinking their approach to short-term investments. Fund Channel Liquidity, a new digital trading platform, aims to deliver a different kind of investment experience – one grounded in real-time analytics and open architecture.
Founded in 2005, Fund Channel has spent the past two decades building its reputation as a multi-channel distribution platform. Today, it intermediates more than €600bn in assets, working with in excess of 600 asset managers across Europe and Asia. But the launch of Fund Channel Liquidity in April 2025 marks a new chapter – one that directly addresses the evolving needs of treasury teams at a time when short-term investing is firmly under the microscope.
As Pierre-Adrien Domon, the company’s CEO, explains: “Launched earlier this year, Fund Channel Liquidity is our premier European online trading platform for liquidity investments. We developed it as a direct response to clients asking for broader fund access, coupled with digital cash management tools that give them real-time visibility and control.”
The launch coincides with the firm’s 20th anniversary – but more importantly, it arrives at a time of heightened geopolitical uncertainty and economic complexity. “In this context, treasurers need autonomy and robust tools for their liquidity investments. We developed a European solution precisely to support those needs,” he adds.
Designed for visibility, built for action
Many treasurers still lack real-time oversight of their cash positions, let alone their short-term investments. Fund Channel Liquidity aims to assemble the capabilities with a platform that offers full transparency, powerful analytics, and seamless execution. Moreover, it is backed by the deep financial expertise of Crédit Agricole and Amundi Group.
“Our solution empowers treasurers with real-time analytics and reporting tools that provide comprehensive insights not just into cash balances, but also investment performance and market trends,” explains Domon. “Data can be extracted at every stage of the process, giving treasurers the ability to efficiently monitor investments, manage orders and cash positions, and integrate directly with their treasury ecosystems, such as their TMS.”
Fund Channel Liquidity recently received the Innovation Prize from the French Association of Corporate Treasurers (AFTE), a testament to its practical approach. “Treasurers appreciate the platform’s intuitive interface and comprehensive data depth, which together boost operational efficiency and contribute to more effective risk management.”
Open architecture at its core
While a handful of well-known MMF platforms already exist in the market, Domon is clear that Fund Channel Liquidity’s strategic commitment to an open architecture platform is essential to treasurers.
“Open architecture has been at the heart of Fund Channel since its inception,” he notes. “This approach enables treasurers to access a wide range of funds tailored to their specific investment criteria, across multiple geographies. We believe strongly in fostering a competitive and transparent investment environment that benefits professional investors.”
The platform’s capabilities are also underpinned by the broader strengths of its backers. Domon explains: “The solution draws on Amundi’s advanced technology, for example, in how we run portfolio analysis and deliver the user experience, while also benefitting from Crédit Agricole’s infrastructure and scale. It’s a proposition that brings together custody, bid management, portfolio analytics, and open architecture in a single environment.”
BOX 1: Benefits at a glance
Today, the Fund Channel Liquidity platform offers:
- Access to a wide universe of MMFs (around 140 investable International Securities Identification Numbers [ISINs] at launch from 33 assets managers, and the offer will grow continuously)
- Analysis and comparison of the most suitable short-term investment options
- Simulation of allocations to build customised portfolios
- Secured execution and trading
- Simplified asset custody
- Monitoring and management of the risk exposure
Deeper data for better decisions
For Domon, data is not simply a layer within the platform – it is the driving force behind its engine. Fund Channel Liquidity’s depth and structure of data provide treasurers with a distinct advantage in analysing risk, making comparisons, and constructing intelligent portfolios.
“Our treasury clients are currently leveraging the platform’s advanced analytics to enhance investment decisions in four key ways, first, the breadth and depth of the fund universe is essential. We’re starting with more than 140 investable ISINs from at least 30 different fund managers. That range matters but so does the consistency of data points, which are tailored specifically for money market instruments, not ETFs or private assets.”
“Second, as I mentioned, we provide cutting-edge portfolio analysis tools from Amundi, which enable treasurers to assess performance, income, and risk exposure. They can simulate orders and set trade constraints, giving them clear visibility and control when managing short-term liquidity.”
“Third, we offer a one-stop shop experience. Straight-through processing, real-time consultation of order statuses, execution timing, and precise cash monitoring are all integrated – which simplifies the transaction process.”
“And fourth, we have built a fund comparison module that enables treasurers to select and benchmark funds – helping them source new investment ideas and challenge their existing allocations.”
Service that speaks your language
While the technology is central to the offering, Fund Channel Liquidity also focuses heavily on service and support. Domon sees this as a key differentiator – especially for corporate treasurers looking for reassurance.
“Proximity to the client is one of our core values,” he explains. “That means supporting them not only during onboarding, but throughout the life cycle of the relationship. Our dedicated team of experts speaks multiple languages, which helps us support treasurers locally.”
“And being backed by both Amundi and Crédit Agricole means treasurers have confidence in the platform’s resilience,” adds Domon. “We’re not a fintech that may or may not be here tomorrow. We’re building for the long term.”
A future-focused approach to liquidity
With that in mind, what’s next for Fund Channel Liquidity? It is clear that the journey has only just begun – and that the platform is designed to evolve alongside treasurers’ needs.
“As the liquidity landscape changes, we anticipate continuously enhancing the platform’s features and expanding the product universe – for example, by adding short-term bond funds, ETFs, and more advanced liquidity products, to the offering.”
He continues: “We want to remain relevant by staying close to our clients and helping them redefine their approach to cash and liquidity. That includes supporting changes in custody models, responding to trends in tokenised assets, and broadening our geographic reach.”
Today, the platform is live across continental Europe, with active expansion. But Fund Channel Liquidity’s ambitions go further.
“Our vision is to become the reference platform for autonomous, effective, and innovative liquidity management,” he concludes. “That means helping treasurers bring more rigour and foresight to short-term investment decisions as an active contributor to financial performance.”
