Board Member, The Slovenian Corporate Treasurers Association
The Slovenian Corporate Treasurers Association (SCTA) was established in Ljubljana in 2003 with the aim of stimulating continuing professional development. The SCTA offers members first-class opportunities to share and transfer knowledge, information, ethics and experience among colleagues, in order to identify new opportunities and approaches, as well as better solutions in their daily work.
Association members share ideas about various issues including the conduct of financial services providers, corporate financial functions, financial markets, managing cash flows and sources of financing.

Our programmes, tasks and objectives are focused on facilitating the promotion of the treasury and finance profession, primarily through various training sessions and workshops with the aim of developing the corporate finance profession. We provide different networking events and regular monthly meetings with up-to date information on financial, accounting and controlling topics (this year we have had several webinars on topics related to the Covid-19 pandemic).
The SCTA’s annual conference, which is held in September in the city of Portorož, is always well attended by members and guests. This year the focus will be on digitalisation and sustainable finance and leadership. Members are also able to join the international meetings of other national treasury associations.
The SCTA co-operates with experts from various Slovenian institutions, including the Slovenian Institute of Auditors, the Slovenian Association of Accountants, Financiers and Auditors, the Slovenian Association of Tax Consultants, and with institutions like the Ministry for Finance of the Republic of Slovenia (RS), the Slovenian National Bank, the RS Statistical Office, the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and others. The SCTA has been a member of IGTA (International Group of Treasury Associations) since 2005 and of EACT (European Association of Corporate Treasurers) since 2006.
The SCTA also actively collaborates with Ljubljana University of Economics to popularise corporate finance among young people and by mentoring students during their studies, in order to combine theory and practice so that they become as successful as possible on their career paths after graduation.
The Asssociation’s work has ensured that we have become a valuable support and partner to our members in their professional financial development. Today we have 146 members from 126 companies from all sectors. Membership is regular (individual) or honorary (individual or company status). The SCTA is led by a president, currently Tadej Majhen, and a board of directors consisting of seven members elected every four years.
Klaudija Javornik is an SCTA board member and its representative board member at EACT and IGTA. She has 21 years’ experience as a finance and accounting manager in the service and fintech industries. In 2019 Javornik was recognised as the Ambassador of Connectivity by the Managers’ Association of Slovenia. She is also proud to be an Ambassador of AEIOU leadership for eco-civilisation (conscious leadership based on the ancient wisdom of indigenous people connected with modern knowledge to co-create a more connected society and build a more sustainable world) [1]. In addition, Javornik is the co-author of the first two books on mentoring to be published in Slovenia [2].
