Christian Roth Joins as CIO of Global Fixed Income at Northern Trust Asset Management

Christian (Chris) Roth, CFA has joined Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM) as Chief Investment Officer, Global Fixed Income.

Roth brings more than three decades of financial industry experience to the role. He joins most recently from Morgan Stanley Investment Management, where he held a variety of global fixed income leadership roles since 1999. In 2023, he was Chairman, Broad Markets Fixed Income. Prior to that he served as Head of Multi-Sector Fixed Income, Head of Global Fixed Income and Credit, and Co-Head of the Global and European Fixed Income Team.

At NTAM, Roth will oversee the investment strategy, process and approach for the firm’s fixed income business globally. Roth will report to NTAM Global Chief Investment Officer Angelo Manioudakis.

Northern Trust Asset Management had $414.1 billion assets under management in fixed income and liquidity strategies, as of December 31, 2023. NTAM’s fixed income platform provides liquidity and cash, credit, high-yield, and municipal bond solutions across active, quantitative, and indexing strategies.

Earlier in his career, Roth also held positions in fixed income at Miller, Anderson & Sherrerd and merchant banking at Dean Witter Capital Corporation. Roth has a bachelor’s degree in economics from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and is a CFA charterholder.
